Women professionals are infinitely more relatable to in terms of the game of an average low amateur and the predominantly male crowd at Royal Lytham and St Annes this week illustrates the ever-broadening appeal of the women’s game

In a joint announcement, The R&A and European Tour confirmed that Royal Lytham & St Annes will host the 33rd edition of the Championship from 25-28 July 2019. The Senior Open was last held at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 1994 after hosting the Championship for four consecutive years.

The Championship was last played there in 2009 when Catriona Matthew famously became the first Scottish woman to clinch a Major title
