Teignmouth Golf Club in Devon suffered a burglary last week that resulted in the entire collection of the 100-year-old club’s trophies, vases and plaques being stolen.

The break-in, which is the fourth at the club in the last seven months, took place on April 2, with the robbers taking just three minutes to empty the trophy cabinets which were located inside the front entrance of the clubhouse.

General Manager Martin Hucklesby said: “It‘s just shocking. So much heritage has been lost in such a short space of time. It’s irreplaceable and very upsetting for the staff and the members. Much of what was taken has very little monetary value, but it is worth a huge amount to the club, as many of the trophies were inscribed with the names of past members and some date back to the inception of the club.”

He added: “The staff are obviously very shocked. We are desperate to get the trophies back and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”

The club has CCTV footage of the break-in, and the Devon and Cornwall Police’s enquiries are on-going, with anyone with information asked to get in touch through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting the crime reference 50250082371.
