Burhill Group Limited (BGL) has unveiled a new company purpose and values as part of a major conference bringing team members together from across the business to align behind its strategy for 2026 and beyond.
The company’s inaugural BGL Conference marked a significant milestone for the organisation under CEO Simon Thompson, who joined the business in 2025. Senior leaders used the conference to outline BGL’s strategic direction while introducing a new balanced scorecard process to track against key objectives.
The conference formed part of a wider BGL Awards Week, which also saw the company host two celebration evenings recognising outstanding team members and achievements across its Golf, Adventure Leisure, and Ninja Leisure divisions.
A key highlight of the conference was the launch of BGL’s new company purpose: “We create exceptional space to play and be together.”
The purpose is supported by four core values designed to reflect how teams work together across the business: Fun, Ambition, Collaboration and Trust. The values were developed following an extensive consultation process with team members, including focus groups and engagement surveys delivered in partnership with organisational culture specialists Hendrick and Hyde.
Feedback from team members helped identify the behaviours and principles that matter most across BGL’s venues and operations, ensuring the values are rooted in the experiences and perspectives of the team. The new framework will now be embedded across the company’s network of venues, with each site hosting its own local launch events to bring the purpose and values to life in day-to-day working environments.
The initiative marks the first major cultural project under Thompson’s leadership and signals the company’s commitment to strengthening its team culture as it continues to grow.
Simon Thompson, CEO of Burhill Group Limited, said: “Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and the development of our purpose and values has been shaped directly by their insights and experiences. Bringing teams together from across the business to launch this work was incredibly powerful, and it marks an important step as we look ahead to the next phase of BGL’s growth.”
The announcement follows a strong period of momentum for BGL. The company’s Golf Division delivered a record year in 2025, while the wider business was also recognised in Grant Thornton’s inaugural Surrey Ltd Report, which highlights the county’s top 100 limited companies and the factors behind their success.
“With a clear strategy for 2026, a strong culture and fantastic teams across our venues, we’re in a great position to continue creating exceptional places for people to play, connect, and spend time together,” Thompson added.
