This summer marks a busy and exciting period of golf course development across southern England, with Master Greenkeeper Greg Evans playing a central role. From major drainage upgrades to tee and green reconstructions, he is working closely with course managers, general managers, owners, and committees, to help clubs improve playability, enhance performance, and ensure long-term sustainability.

Singing Hills Drainage Works

Drainage is a major focus throughout 2025, with several projects managed from design and specification through to on-site delivery:

  • Singing Hills Golf Club – Phase Two of the drainage programme is underway, following a successful Phase One in 2024. This stage involves installing 7,500 metres of pipe, with Pearl serving as the contractor.
  • Muswell Hill Golf Club – Phase Two of the drainage upgrade begins in late July, with installation by Profusion.
  • Ealing GC, Old Fold Manor GC and Sunningdale Heath GC
Drainage improvements are planned at each club, including the 1st fairway at Ealing, the 1st green and 8th tee at Old Fold Manor, and the 10th fairway at Sunningdale Heath. All will be delivered by Sportsfield Contractors.
Copthorne 8th Tee under construction

Tee and green construction projects are also planned, with Greg Evans working closely with clubs and contractors to provide agronomic input:

  • Copthorne Golf Club – Working alongside architect Alan Walker and contractor Simon Bolton of 18 Golf Construction, projects include the 5th green, and the 6th and 8th tees.
  • Sundridge Park Golf Club (West Course) – Reconstruction of the 10th green will be completed by contractor Mark Awbery of Titan Landscape.

Across all projects, whether fully managed or supported with agronomic consultancy, the goal is the same: to help clubs deliver lasting improvements for members, visitors, and greenkeeping teams.
