Crane Valley Golf Club in Dorset has invested over £70,000 in refurbishing its driving range and building a new short game area.

The investment has consisted of building five additional outside bays to the driving range, extending the roof to protect players from the elements, improving LED lighting, and refurbishing the entire range. The club’s putting and chipping area has also been upgraded with the green being moved and extended to three times its original size to create more pin positions.

Councillor Simon Gibson, the mayor of Verwood, who has played at the club since he was 12, officially opened the new practice facilities earlier this week.

James Slade, Head of Golf for Hoburne Ltd, the company which runs Crane Valley, said: “There are so many exciting improvements happening at Crane Valley and we were delighted to welcome Simon to open the improved practice facilities. We are very proud to see Simon represent Verwood as mayor and so pleased that he kindly gave up his time to support us with the opening.”

Mayor Gibson commented: “Crane Valley is a brilliant, community focused club and I am delighted to be able to support the opening of the new practice facilities. The investment is very welcome, and I know that many local people appreciate having such a good club on our doorstep.”
