Harradine on course in Oman

Jebel Sifah is one of Harradine Golf’s designs and is moving one step further towards completion with construction work now well under way.

Oman is still on track with the development of golf despite this time of crisis. Jebel Sifah is one of Harradine Golf’s designs, and is moving one step further with construction work now well under way as international shapers begin to re-create Peter Harradine’s design on the ground.

Deep boreholes and desalination plants provide the water and a four-hectare turf nursery has been prepared.

Richard McGlynn was appointed last month as a Golf Project Manager. Richard has worked on many Harradine projects and has gained enormous experience in all aspects of golf course construction, management and maintenance, having worked in the UK, Switzerland, Dubai, Russia and India.

Although firmly based in his Dubai offices for many years now and well-known for his work throughout Europe and the Middle East, Peter Harradine is still thought of by some locals as a ‘Swiss architect’ hence the name given by some to Jebel Sifah’s rugged looks is the ‘Swiss Design’.

As one of Oman’s national newspapers outs it, “The ‘Swiss design’ has been laid out to combine the natural rugged undulations of this amazing site with the flowing sand dunes while catering to golfers of every handicap.”
