King Collins Dormer Golf Course Design has been appointed to build a new 14-hole course at Kohler Wisconsin, USA.

The course, which is due to open in the autumn of 2027, will join the four 18-hole courses and par-3 course at the Whistling Straits resort, whose Straits course hosted the 2021 Ryder Cup.

The new 14-hole layout, to be named Purebred Farm, will measure around 4,900 yards and will be located on land just west of Kohler’s Blackwolf Run course, with construction beginning in the coming weeks.

The course will feature a routing that includes prairie, farmland and river valleys, with the layout prioritising ‘strategy, aesthetics and shot-making challenges’, according to a Kohler company statement.

“Our new course will reflect a minimalist design style in an environmentally conscious way,” said Dirk Willis, vice president of golf, landscape and retail for Kohler Hospitality. “We will use the natural terrain when setting locations for tees, fairways and greens.”

Willis added: “Kohler is committed to growing the game of golf and expanding access to more individuals at all skill levels Each of the last five years has been record-setting in terms of golf rounds at our resort, and we project this strong growth to continue. This additional golf course will provide another level of enjoyment for guests and further cement our position as a leading global golf destination.”
