US President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump held a groundbreaking ceremony with Vietnam prime minister Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday (May 21) for a $1.5 billion golf resort and residential development to be built outside Hanoi.

The US president’s Trump Organization family business and its local partners received approval for the project last week from the Communist authorities in Vietnam, which is separately negotiating over tariffs with Washington.

Chinh said that “motivated us to expedite this project,” as he urged local authorities to provide maximum support and facilitate the completion of the 2,445-acre resort, which will feature three 18-hole golf courses.

The investment, in partnership with Vietnamese developer Kinhbac City, will also include a luxury residential complex, becoming the Trump Organisation’s largest development in East Asia.

The first two golf courses are expected to be open for play by mid-2027.
