Master Greenkeeper Greg Evans is working with Langley Park Golf Club in Kent under a flexible agronomy arrangement, adjusting the level of support in line with the club’s operational requirements.
Evans’s involvement at the Beckenham-based club began in the summer of 2024 with an independent agronomy audit, providing a detailed review of greens performance, drainage infrastructure, and overall course condition. Initial recommendations focused on widening playing surfaces, progressing a tree and woodland management programme, improving land drainage across clay-based areas, and reducing organic matter levels through a revised renovation strategy.
The audit evolved into an advisory programme, helping the club prioritise and address key agronomic areas.

Following the appointment of Course Manager Marcus Hodge, the relationship moved into a Level 2 management agreement, providing greater on-site presence during a period of change for the course and the wider team. The Level 2 agreement includes twice-monthly site visits and ongoing liaison with the Course Manager on operational matters.
With operational systems established and greater stability achieved, the arrangement has since returned to an advisory format. This includes scheduled agronomy visits, formal reporting and ongoing oversight, while allowing the club’s internal team to lead daily operations.
The flexible approach has enabled involvement to adjust as the club’s requirements have evolved, remaining proportionate and aligned with each phase of progress.
Commenting on the arrangement, Mike Timson, General Manager at Langley Park Golf Club, said: “The agronomy support has provided valuable structure and independent guidance during a period of change at the club. Moving back to an advisory arrangement gives us the right level of input as we continue to build on the progress made.”
