The Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf, North Warwickshire MP Craig Tracey MP, has praised England Golf’s new digital platform, iGolf, saying it “presents new opportunities for golf”.

Launched on July 13, iGolf allows subscribers to input scores, track their official WHS handicap, track personal and friends’ performances, and more.

Speaking after the launch, Tracey said: “This is an important innovation for golf in England. We are seeing such a big increase in “transient” golfers, who are either not in the position to join a club or simply don’t want to at the moment. With the introduction of the World Handicap System, iGolf offers the means for independent non-club golfers to gain a recognised handicap for the first time, which offers a huge  potential to increase participation.

By offering an app like iGolf, the sport can encourage more people to play in a way that suits them and will, I am sure, present new opportunities for golf to develop in ways that we will not have witnessed before.”
