Forfar Golf Club in Scotland has announced the formalisation of a long-term partnership with The Ancient Links Golf Company (TALGC), following member approval in October of last year.
Entering the partnership from a position of stability, the club undertook a thorough review before concluding that collaboration with TALGC would accelerate planned improvements while safeguarding member access and identity.
The Ancient Links Golf Company was established in 2025 with a purpose to ‘protect and elevate golf’s most historic Scottish links by ensuring they remain relevant, playable, and sustainable for future generations’.
Under the terms of the agreement, TALGC will assume responsibility for day-to-day management and operations. The partnership includes a structured programme of investment in course infrastructure, facilities and agronomy, supported by specialist advisors and established industry expertise.
Gerald Callander, President of Forfar Golf Club, said: “This has been a thorough and carefully considered process. The Committee recognised the opportunity to move forward more quickly and with greater certainty through partnership. We were determined to protect our members’ interests and ensure continued access to the course, while putting in place the management structure and investment required to secure the club’s long-term future.
“Forfar is a course of genuine architectural significance, and this agreement allows us to protect that heritage while presenting it to a wider national and international audience.”
A spokesperson for The Ancient Links Golf Company added: “Our approach is venue-first. We partner with clubs that possess distinct architectural character and historical significance with active member communities. Forfar represents a rare and important landscape within Scottish golf, and our role is to support its continued evolution while respecting its identity and place within the local community.”

Forfar becomes the second venue within The Ancient Links Golf Company’s portfolio, following a similar arrangement announced with Scotscraig Golf Club last October, as the organisation continues discussions with a select number of established clubs across Scotland.
The company says its focus remains on partnering with strong clubs where targeted investment and additional operational resource can support long-term sustainability while maintaining identity and member priority.
