Gary D’Amato appointed new president of the GWAA

Gary D’Amato has been appointed as the new President of the Golf Writers Association of America.

Gary D’Amato has been appointed as the new President of the Golf Writers Association of America.

Gary, who is the senior golf writer for Wisconsin.Golf, takes over the role from Beth Ann Nichols, the managing editor at Golfweek, who created GWAA history in 2021 by becoming the Association’s first woman president. 

Gary, who will serve a two-year term in office, is the GWAA’s 47th President.

Rex Hoggard, senior writer for The Golf Channel, has been appointed GWAA vice-president.
