Sotogrande has reinforced its standing as Spain’s most concentrated hub of elite golf, following the release of Top100GolfCourses updated Spain ranking for 2026.
The latest list confirms Real Club Valderrama at No.1, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande at No.2, and La Reserva Club holding its position at No.13.
Top100GolfCourses notes “unprecedented stability at the summit” in this year’s ranking, with the top positions once again underlining the enduring quality found within Sotogrande and its immediate surroundings.
At the top of the ranking, Real Club Valderrama reinforces its long-held reputation as Spain’s benchmark championship venue. Its standing is underpinned by global tournament pedigree, the most notably as host of the 1997 Ryder Cup, and further elevated by the awarding of its ‘Real’ (Royal) title in 2014, a distinction that cements its international stature.
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande retains its position at #2, an impressive reflection of the course’s enduring relevance more than five decades on. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr as his first European course, the par-72, 6,224-metre layout continues to be celebrated for its timeless strategy, variety and lasting appeal.
Completing Sotogrande’s standout performance, La Reserva Club holds steady at #13, maintaining its place inside Spain’s Top 15 and underscoring its role as the destination’s modern championship counterpart. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson stretches beyond 6,700 metres from the back tees, combining generous playing corridors with a demanding test, while its tournament credentials were firmly demonstrated when Sotogrande welcomed the European Tour in 2014.
