Callaway has introduced the all-new Opus SP range of wedges which boast Spin Pocket construction and a Tour-preferred shaping with a higher centre of gravity for more spin and precision.
They will be available for pre-sale from August 11, and at retail from August 22 in the UK and Europe, and from September 12 in the US.
Available in nine different lofts, from 48° to 64°, and five different grinds (adding up to 24 loft/bounce/grind options) to suit a wide variety of course conditions and attack angles, the Opus SP wedges are offered in two finishes, Tour Chrome and Black Shadow. The shaft options are TT Dynamic Gold S200 (120g) and the UST Recoil Dart HDC (50g/60g).

SPIN POCKET CONSTRUCTION
The ‘SP’ in Opus SP stands for ‘spin pocket’ which was developed from a new two-piece construction. Underneath the lower part of the face is a hollowed cavity designed to raise the centre of gravity of the wedge above the ball, which helps lower launch and raise spin.
The amount of weight moved higher and the size of the pocket depends on the loft of the wedge to create a progressive CG design. More weight is moved up with a larger pocket in the lob wedges and adjustments to shape and hosel also help change the CG to make it highest in lob wedges (60°-64°) and lowest in the pitching wedge (48°).

NEW SPIN GEN 2.0 FACE
A new 17° groove angle, with tighter pitch spacing, delivers more groove edge contact for more consistent spin across a variety of lies. Combined with a deeper crosshatch laser pattern across the face, Spin Gen 2.0 produces enhanced friction for more bite and stopping power on all types of approach shots.

SHAPE 6 – TOUR-VALIDATED PROFILE
Already in the bags of leading Callaway staff players such as Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm, and with 32 players using them at last month’s Scottish Open, the OPUS 6 appeals to tour pros for its clean look at address, precise leading edge and refined sole geometry.
Shape 6 is the sixth and final iteration in the Opus prototype shaping phase, which validated by Tour players before being made available to the public.
The OPUS SP range features progressive shaping in the gap wedges (48°–54°) to seamlessly blend with modern iron sets.
X GRIND – VERSATILITY WITH BOUNCE
The OPUS SP wedges are offered in five grinds which offer the following performance characteristics:
T – Tour Inspired for precise shot making
X – A higher bounce option with extreme heel and toe relief for versatility
S – A standard mid-bounce full swing grind for every situation
W – An ultra-wide sole, high bounce option for maximum forgiveness
C – Low-to-mid bounce grind for maximum versatility
The X grind option, which was last seen in the Jaws Raw wedges that Callaway introduced in 2022, is a high-bounce option with a very narrow sole and extreme heel and toe relief to blend versatility and forgiveness for a steeper swinging player or one who plays in softer conditions.
RRPs per club: $199.99/$209.99 (st/gr), £179 (UK), €219 (Ireland), €199 (Europe)
