Abacus Sportswear, the Swedish golf and lifestyle apparel company and Official Clothing Supplier to The European Tour and European Solheim Cup Team, appoints a new UK key account manager to continue its growth across the continent.

The UK remains a target region for Abacus Sportswear in 2014 and experienced golf industry specialist, Oliver Kennedy, has been appointed as the new UK key account manager to support incumbent sales representative, Jake Oudes.

The 34 year-old has a strong sales background, and, along with being a PGA Professional, has worked in golf and retail for more than a decade. During this time, he has represented one of the world’s largest golf hardware manufacturers, one of the UK’s largest golf and leisure wear brands and a high street fashion retailer.

Returning to the UK following a year in Denmark, to take up his new post, Oliver commented: “As a PGA professional, I understand the needs of golf retailers and I am looking forward to promoting and growing the abacus® brand, tailoring products, prices and services to the UK market – ultimately bringing Swedish quality and heritage to our valued customers.

“In particular, I am eager to share the new Spring-Summer 2014 collection, featuring performance fabrics already synonymous with the brand, to existing and potential new customers.”

Oliver was part of the Professional team at Silkeborg Golf Club, one of Denmark’s most prestigious Clubs, who stocked the technical performance clothing brand.

Commenting on the new appointment, Sven-Olof Karlsson, owner of Abacus Sportswear said: “Oliver joins us with a wealth of experience in the golf industry, not just in the UK but also internationally. As a PGA Professional, his understanding of the golf trade industry and the needs of fellow PGA professionals, is second to none.

“Oliver will be creating strong relationships with golf outlets and golf professionals through supporting existing and potential new abacus® clientele in the UK, with his business and retail expertise.”

Sven-Olof Karlsson added: “2014 is set to be an exciting year, and one of great importance for abacus® in the UK with the launch of two new collections, a licensee agreement with The Ryder Cup 2014, and the appointment of Oliver.”
