John Jacobs has been succeeded by Jaime Ortiz Patino as President of the PGA of Europe for the next two years

John Jacobs OBE has been succeeded by Jaime Ortiz Patino as President of the PGA of Europe for the two year term 2001-2002.

“My respect and admiration for the professional golfers of Europe is well known,” said Senor Patino. “They have brought our wonderful game to its present heights and I am confident that the conditions are right for continued progress on a pan-European basis.

“I believe that golf is a powerful influence for good and I especially believe that the professional golfers of Europe are vital role models for the young,” he continued. “This is a role which they fill most worthily and I am honoured to have been invited to become their Honorary President.”

“Great credibility and status has been added to the PGA of Europe by the distinguished Presidency of John Jacobs during the last two years,” said General Secretary Lawrie Thornton. “In thanking John for all he has done, we receive matching satisfaction from welcoming on board a new president whose credentials as a servant to the sport are also impeccable and of the highest order.”
