LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan has announced her resignation and will step down from her position on January 9, three weeks before the LPGA Tour begins its 75th season.

Liz Moore, the LPGA’s chief legal and technology officer, will serve as interim commissioner while a permanent replacement is recruited.

Marcoux Samaan served in the role for three-and-a-half years, starting in April 2021. She was previously athletic director at Princeton University.

“With the LPGA positioned for continued growth, it’s time for me to have more time to cheer on our three amazing children as they live their dreams while I continue to pursue my passion for building leaders, uniting communities and creating value through sports, particularly women’s sports,” Marcoux Samaan said in a statement.

Prize funds on the LPGA Tour increased by more than 90% during Marcoux Samaan’s tenure, with the five women’s majors in 2025 set to have a combined purse of at least $47 million, up from $23 million in 2021.

Following the recently announced 2025 tour schedule, next year will see LPGA players compete for a record total of $127.5 million in prize money.
