Electric trolley brand PowaKaddy has announced the promotion of Matt Watt to the role of Design & Innovation Director.

Watt’s history with PowaKaddy stretches back nearly two decades, having first joined the Kent-based business in 2007 as a student on placement. After gaining experience across different sectors and running his own successful design consultancy, he returned full-time in 2021 as Head of Design & Innovation.

This promotion to Director level marks the next chapter in a long-standing relationship that has helped shape some of the brand’s most impactful product developments over the last 15 years.

As an avid golfer himself, Watt has been a driving force behind a number of key innovations that have become hallmarks of PowaKaddy’s product offering. From the original PowaFrame chassis and Plug ‘n’ Play battery system, to the pioneering ultra-compact CT trolley and the introduction of touchscreen GPS technology to the category.

In his most recent role, Watt has led the design of the MAG-LOK bag locking system, an all-new cart bag and push-cart range, and a redesigned EBS gearbox. He has also overseen the next generation of GPS-enabled trolleys, including groundbreaking models with full-hole portrait displays, and the brand’s latest remote-control offerings.

Matt Watt has played a leading role in introducing some of PowaKaddy’s most important innovations, including the new Mag-Lok bag-to-trolley connection system

Reflecting on his promotion, Watt commented: “Throughout my time with PowaKaddy, I’ve always been driven to push new innovations and test the limits of what’s possible on an electric golf trolley. That mindset aligns perfectly with the company’s goals and is a big part of why our products have remained at the forefront of the industry. In my new role, I’m excited to take that even further, and to drive the next generation of technology, features and design in the electric trolley category.”

PowaKaddy CEO David Catford added: “Matt’s influence on our product portfolio has been transformative, and he has played a key part in the brand’s success, particularly over the last four years. His creativity and technical understanding for our products have helped keep PowaKaddy at the forefront of electric trolley design, and this promotion is thoroughly deserved. We’re excited to see what’s to come from Matt and his team.”
