Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland has appointed Scott Sellars to the newly created role of Head of Golf.
The Englishman joins the management team as the club counts down to the opening of a new £13.9 million clubhouse on December 15.
General manager Neil Hampton said the new post had been in the pipeline since members gave the green light to the clubhouse project two years ago. He said: “We have needed more staff as our business has grown significantly since the pandemic, but we simply didn’t have room to accommodate any more people within the old clubhouse. We had maximised the space that was available.
“With the new clubhouse plans moving forward, 150th anniversary celebrations looming in 2027, and welcoming the Curtis Cup the following year, along with a masterplan now in place for enhancing the wider golf offering at Royal Dornoch, it was vital to review our organisational structure going forward.”
Sellars, who arrives in the Highlands after career that has included a range of golf operations roles at clubs in the UK, the USA, Mauritius, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Ireland, said: “I am absolutely honoured to be joining Royal Dornoch at such an exciting period for the club and look forward to helping build on its already world-class reputation.”
Hampton said: “We are delighted to welcome Scott on board. He stood out as the best candidate on an impressive shortlist. It is perfect timing as we prepare to move into the new clubhouse this month and Scott’s experience in high profile management roles at home and abroad will prove invaluable.
“We are determined to enhance our level of service even further and ensure it is commensurate with the quality of our new building and world-famous Championship Course. Scott will also be coordinating the wider golfing journey at Royal Dornoch, encompassing the retail, coaching and events arms of the business. He will be hitting the ground running.
“Scott’s depth of knowledge across the sector, including time with respected management company Troon, will be called upon in this new role as we feel our way into the new clubhouse environment before the start of the start of the 2026 season.”
