The Golf Industry Golf Society Holds London Lunch

Last week over 40 members enjoyed the Society’s event at the Oriental Club in London where it was announced that next year overseas members would be able to join, subject to the usual selection process

Over 40 members enjoyed the Society’s first non-golfing event at the Oriental Club on Thursday 18 November. More than half the membership, representing ‘the great and good’ of the Golf Industry, met in London for a sumptuous Curry Lunch at Captain Nick Brown’s club in the heart of London.

Being the last event of the year, having enjoyed two outstanding golf events at Purdis Heath in July and Trevose in October, Nick handed over to his Vice Captain, Chris Lomas, who announced he will be taking the group to Worplesdon (where he is the Secretary) for the Spring meeting and Hillside and Royal Birkdale for the Autumn Meeting and, following the success of this first non-golfing event in the Society’s 14 year history,  another lunch, this time at wine merchants, Berry Brothers and Rudd’s London cellar.

It was also announced that overseas members would be able to join the already popular 80 strong membership, subject to the usual selection process

The Society is restricted to those with at least 10 years’ experience in the Golf Industry and to those in senior positions within their particular section.

John Bushell

Following lunch, John Bushell of SMS, a member and former President of the Society, delivered the latest encouraging statistics for the Golf Industry.

Overall, the event was an enjoyable, end of the year get-together, and provided members with an excellent Networking opportunity with colleagues and friends in the Industry.
