Ring Of Kerry Golf Club in the Republic of Ireland has been sold for an undisclosed sum to the owners of a local hotel.

The club, which is located in Country Kerry and overlooks Kenmare Bay, first opened in 1998 and boasts an 18-hole, 6,814-yard championship course designed by the late Eddie Hackett and Ron Kirby.

The club has been bought by Dr Stanley Quek and Peng Loh, the Singaporean owners of the five-star Sheen Falls Lodge, which is less than 12km from the golf club.

The sale was handled by HMH Golf & Leisure, although it is understood that the club was not placed on the open market, as it was offered directly to Sheen Falls Lodge’s owners.

The new owners, who also run the Castlemartyr Resort in Cork and the Trinity Townhouse Hotel in Dublin, have pledged to invest in the restaurant facilities in the clubhouse and upgrade the golf course.

Dr Quek said: “Having our own golf course is a wonderful addition to the array of activities we offer our hotel guests. We are looking forward to this new chapter at Sheen Falls Lodge.”

The new owners of Ring of Kerry Golf Club also own the nearby Sheen Falls Lodge
