A new family-owned golf shop has opened in Southport as the town gears up to host the 2026 Open Championship at nearby Royal Birkdale.

Hole In 1 Golf, which is located on Lord Street, Southport’s main shopping street, is owned by Glyn and Lisa Richards, and offers a wide selection of equipment and accessories from leading golf brands, including Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, Cleveland and MacGregor.

Customers can also choose from an extensive range of apparel brands, including Adidas, FootJoy, Glenmuir, Lyle & Scott, Sunderland, Stuburt and Swing out Sister, while expert advice is on hand to help with purchases, and there are changing facilities for trying on clothing for size.

The shop stocks a wide range of hardware, apparel and accessories

Glyn Richards said: “We have enjoyed a brilliant response from customers since we opened on December 1. With so many fabulous golf courses nearby, opening this shop was a no-brainer for us. There’s a real need for what we offer. We’re so excited for The Open coming next year.”

He added: “People love the fact they can walk into our shop, see what we have first-hand, feel the quality, and try things on in our changing room. What we’ve found since we’ve opened is that we’re really appreciated by female golfers – we’ve had a lot of women coming in, to the extent that we’ve increased the range of women’s apparel that we offer. We also have a price match guarantee, so we are able to compete with online retailers too.”
