With excitement building at the forthcoming Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in October, PGA in Wales manager Gareth Lewis sees it as an ideal way to build on increased participation rates in the sport.

The scheme comes hot on the heels of Golf Development Wales’ ‘Golf Awareness Week’ which ran in April.

PGA pros from all over Wales will be involved in the free lesson month which will be backed up by further development and participation opportunities throughout the summer.

“This is a marvellous opportunity for golfers of all ages and abilities – from beginners to low handicappers – to get some expert advice with a fully qualified PGA professional,” said Lewis.

“It may just be that they want someone to give their swing the once over or they want to improve their technique but either way having a lesson with a PGA pro leads to increased enjoyment and playing of the game. This is also a great chance for those that have never played before to take up the game and start the right way with the assistance of experts.”

The scheme also offers PGA pros an opportunity to increase participation, grow client bases and gain new club members.

The scheme will also be supporting Tenovus – the official charity of Ryder Cup Wales, and the only condition for each pupil is that they make a minimum donation of £1 per pupil per lesson.
