There is just one week to go for young golfers to sign up for the EGU/EWGA 2011 intake on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) scheme.
The AASE programme offers young talented golfers the opportunity to take advantage of high performance coaching while still remaining in full time education on A Level or BTEC courses.
Still in its early years, the AASE programme already boasts two British Amateur champions and a full time European Tour professional amongst its recent students. The AASE scheme is a joint initiative by the EGU and EWGA and utilises funding linked to the apprenticeship programme, a government funded scheme developed by ‘Skills Active’, the sector skills council for sport and active recreation.
Samantha Marshall, Regional Performance Development Manager for the EGU/EWGA commented, “The AASE programme offers young talented golfers a route into high performance coaching while still retaining their focus on their full time education. We are looking for individuals who are prepared to work hard both in the classroom and on the golf course to achieve excellence in their academic and sporting careers.
“In addition to regular high performance coaching we also offer AASE golfers the opportunity to take advantage of personal development days such as our annual Careers Fayre in October when they will have the chance to meet future employers and HE institutions.”
