Sponsor sought for John Jacobs Golf Classic

The new tournament will raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat, a hardworking charity that supports the Wessex Cardiac unit

The £15 million Canford Magna Golf Club, near Wimborne in Dorset, is to host the first annual John Jacobs Golf Classic – a tournament to raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat, a hardworking charity which supports the Wessex Cardiac unit. John Jacobs, highly regarded internationally as one of golf’s most influential personalities and one of the game’s best known teachers, will attend on Thursday 24th August, not only to present prizes but also to provide a special golf clinic.

Alan Blair, chief executive of Wessex Heartbeat and Trevor Smith, managing director of Canford Magna Golf Club are delighted that John Jacobs has agreed to lend his name to the event. To ensure that as much money as possible can be raised for the charity an appeal for an official sponsor has now been launched. The club has two 18 hole courses and a 9 hole par 3 Knighton course which span over a picturesque estate of 350 acres near the River Stour.”

“We know that a sponsor for the John Jacobs Golf Classic will get extremely good value,” says Alan Blair. “It is very early days but we have a number of people showing interest in a corporate association with the event.” Alan Blair can be contacted at Wessex Heartbeat on 01703 796679.
