The Social Golfer, the UK’s largest online golf society with over 17,000 registered users, has announced a new charitable partnership with The Golf Foundation, aiming to raise vital funds for the national charity during its flagship event – the TSG Open Championship.
The annual tournament, set to take place on Saturday, July 27 at Bletchingley Golf Club in Surrey, will see TSG members from across the Southeast gather for a day of golf, camaraderie, and charitable giving — all in support of the Foundation’s mission to introduce golf to young people from all backgrounds.
This year’s tournament theme, ‘School Days’, will highlight the barriers many children face in accessing the sport, while celebrating the role The Golf Foundation plays in delivering golf and life skills workshops in UK schools. The event will include an 18-hole competition, school-themed BBQ, prize-giving, music from the 80s and 90s, and numerous opportunities to donate through raffles, charity challenges, and course-based donation points.
Ian Mullins, founder of The Social Golfer, commented: “Having previously supported international disability golf initiatives like The Cairns Cup and projects in Africa, we felt it was time to focus closer to home. After speaking with Vanessa Bell at The Golf Foundation and learning about the Foundation’s incredible work, we were immediately inspired to help. We’re excited to bring our vibrant community together for what promises to be our biggest and most impactful Open yet.”
In a move to deepen the partnership, TSG and The Golf Foundation are exploring plans to make TSG’s Global Handicap System available free of charge to young players aged 16–21 — enabling them to submit rounds from any course worldwide, broadening their access to organised play.
Vanessa Bell, Head of Fundraising at The Golf Foundation, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with The Social Golfer and bring this exciting initiative to life. Ian’s passion for inclusivity and grassroots golf is infectious, and we’re looking forward to a memorable event that supports our mission and inspires young people to take up the game.”
The event is also being supported by GolfNews, GoGoGo Sport Rangefinders, and Golf Deals Group.
