Golf Care, the UK’s leading golf insurance specialist, has become the official golf insurance partner of Scottish – marking the first time that cover has been offered directly to club members.

Scottish Golf members can now access the new dual-branded insurance, providing a straightforward way to protect equipment and cover liability on the course.

Developed in collaboration with Golf Care, the member benefit will be accessible via the Scottish Golf website, helping to provide peace of mind by offering discounted premiums and exclusive benefits including New-for-Old equipment cover, free of charge and for life.

The tie-up also aims to increase awareness of the need for insurance, which continues to be an issue across the game for both players and clubs.

Golf Care research shows that nearly half of uninsured players believe their equipment is already covered through their club membership or home insurance, a common misconception.

Around 685,000 UK golfers have had equipment lost, stolen or damaged in the last two years alone, at a cost of £238million or £347 per golfer.

Hector Tulloch, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Scottish Golf, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Golf Care as a partner of Scottish Golf, reflecting our ambition to build meaningful, long-term partnerships that deliver real value to golfers and the wider game.

“Golf Care shares that vision, and together we look forward to creating mutual value through enhanced member benefits, community impact and support for Scottish Golf across the country.”

The partnership goes beyond member insurance. Golf Care, through its sister brand Insure4Sport, will provide public liability cover to the volunteers behind Scottish Golf’s Community Golf Instructor programme – more than 200 local instructors who give their time teaching golf skills in schools and communities across the country every year. These volunteers play a vital role in bringing new players, particularly young people, into the game.

Golf Care will also sponsor the annual Scottish Golf Awards and support Scottish Golf’s wider calendar of events and community initiatives throughout the year.

Chris Hopkins, Head of Partnerships at Golf Care, said: “Scotland is the undisputed home of golf, and we’re proud to be standing alongside its governing body to make sure every Scottish golfer has a straightforward route to the right protection for them.

“Many golfers assume they’re covered when they’re not or simply haven’t got round to arranging it. By creating a bespoke offering for Scottish golfers, accessible on the Scottish Golf website and app, it means that for the first time, members have a simple, trusted route to specialist insurance, right where they’d expect to find it.”

Bernard Gallacher, Golf Care brand ambassador and former Ryder Cup Captain, added: “In my playing days, nobody talked about golf insurance – you just hoped for the best! Times have changed, and rightly so. This partnership gives Scottish golfers something they’ve never had before: a trusted, simple way to protect themselves and their kit – backed by their own governing body.”
