Kinross Golf Courses in Scotland has unveiled an £800,000 investment programme which combines heritage-led course upgrades with modern amenities, enhanced player experiences, and a brand refresh honouring its designer, Sir David Montgomery.

The two 18-hole courses, The Montgomery and The Bruce, set amid the rolling landscapes of central Perthshire and an easy drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and St Andrews, offer golfers a unique combination of history, accessibility, and premium quality.

With these enhancements, Kinross is positioning itself as a destination not only for day visitors but also for those seeking a full ‘stay and play’ experience at Green Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals.

“This significant investment demonstrates the team’s commitment to preserving the heritage of Kinross Golf Courses while delivering a premium experience for every golfer who visits,” said Dean Charalambous, Director at Artemis Hotels Management.

At the heart of the programme is a comprehensive upgrade of course machinery, with £600,000 invested in state-of-the-art turfcare equipment to ensure consistently pristine playing conditions across both courses. Complementing this, a fleet of 20 new-generation EZGO ride-on buggies, equipped with integrated GPS screens, which are set to arrive this month, enhancing on-course navigation and overall enjoyment for golfers.

The investment also extends to signage across each hole and at the main entrance, creating a modern and welcoming impression while respecting the courses’ illustrious heritage.

A cornerstone of the programme is the sensitive restoration of bunkering across both the Montgomery and Bruce Courses. The renovation carefully returns these features closer to their original architectural intent, with subtle refinements that ensure the bunkers remain both strategically challenging and relevant for the modern game.

Greig McSporran, Director of Golf at Kinross Golf Courses, commented: “As someone who has served at Kinross for nearly 20 years, I have a deep affection for the courses, their design, and the people who bring them to life every day. Our bunker restoration programme is an exciting step forward — it returns the bunkers closer to their original footprint while preserving the strategic intent and aesthetic character envisioned by Sir David Montgomery. This ensures the courses continue to challenge and inspire golfers for generations to come.”

Alongside these enhancements, a new driving range is under construction and scheduled for completion at the end of 2026. The facility will expand practice options, support player development, and further cement Kinross as a full-service golfing destination.

The investment programme also signals a subtle shift in positioning. While historically known as an affordable course, Kinross is now aligning its pricing to reflect the elevated quality of experience while maintaining accessibility for a wide range of players.

As part of the rebrand, the Montgomery family crest has been incorporated across the courses in recognition of the designer’s legacy. Sir David Montgomery himself remains closely involved, surveying the land multiple times daily from his golf buggy, ensuring the courses continue to reflect his original vision.
