The Turfgrass Growers Association has released a new video highlighting the severe impact that the prolonged hot and dry conditions experienced during 2026 are having on UK turf production.
Featuring turf growers from across the country, the video shows the practical challenges facing the industry, including depleted water resources, restrictions on irrigation, crop damage and the difficult decisions growers are having to make to protect current and future production.
The effects of the drought will continue long after rainfall returns, with damaged crops requiring further work and extended growing periods before they can be harvested, while many sports pitches remain unusable until the ground softens and grass begins to grow again.
