Paultons Golf Centre in Hampshire is to sponsor local Miss England semi-finalist Mackenzie Porter as she continues her ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ campaign, Ahead of the Game, which encourages more women and girls to get active through sport.
The partnership came about after Mackenzie developed a growing interest in golf and connected with the team at Paultons Golf Centre. Recognising a shared ambition to make sport more welcoming and accessible for women and girls, Paultons offered its support and helped bring her next fundraising event to life.
On October 4, from 9am-4pm, Mackenzie and Paultons Golf Centre will host Golf For The Girls, a female-led golf day raising vital funds and awareness for Chiari Malformation charities across the UK. Open to participants of all ages, handicaps and experience levels, the event will offer an inclusive opportunity to try golf, connect through sport and support an important cause.
“I know that I can’t change the world on my own, but with the Miss England platform and the support of Paultons Golf Centre, we can start to make a difference,” said Mackenzie. “I really hope that any woman who has ever considered trying golf will see this as their opportunity to come along and join in the fun with other likeminded people.”
Mackenzie’s campaign was inspired by her mother, who was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation two years ago. Those with the condition live in constant chronic pain. The two realised that activity helped her mother to manage the pain, which prompted Mackenzie to create Ahead of the Game, to raise awareness, offer support and highlight the physical and mental benefits of staying active. Her first campaign event, an evening of football, raised more than £2,000 for Chiari Malformation charities, with Golf For The Girls marking the next step in her mission.
