Iona Stephen and Dan Walker club together for new golf show
For The Love Of Golf, a new show hosted by two leading golf and sports presenters, hits the airwaves and screens.
Broadcaster and golf fan Dan Walker and former professional golfer and broadcaster Iona Stephen have joined forces to launch For The Love Of Golf, a new multi-media show celebrating the game at every level.
From major tournaments and the world’s best players to weekend fourballs, great courses, new equipment and stories away from the fairways, For The Love Of Golf is billed as being aimed at ‘everyone who loves playing, watching or talking about golf’.
The show, which launched across YouTube, social and podcast platforms on September 8, will combine Dan and Iona’s perspectives, personalities and passion for the sport. Alongside a regular video podcast, it will feature challenges, films, conversations and social content for golfers of every ability, from scratch players to those still trying to break 100.
Walker is one of the UK’s best-known broadcasters and a lifelong golf fan. He currently anchors 5 News and presents the Classic FM breakfast show, and has previously fronted Football Focus, BBC Breakfast and Match of the Day. He has also hosted and played in golf events throughout his broadcasting career.
Stephen combines professional experience of the game with a career in golf broadcasting. A former professional golfer, she is a commentator and presenter for Sky Sports and CBS and one of the sport’s most recognisable voices. She has also covered all four of the men’s Majors championships, as well as anchoring the prize presentation ceremony for the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Speaking about her passion for the game at all its levels, Stephen said: “Golf is such a brilliant sport because there are so many different ways to love it. You can be obsessed with the professional game, play once a month with your mates, spend your weekends chasing a handicap or just enjoy being out on a golf course. Dan and I want to celebrate all of that. We want the show to be fun, to feel like golf feels when you’re actually playing it – and hopefully give people plenty to talk about along the way.”
Walker added:“I am a golf obsessive – although I’m not sure my talent on the course matches my enthusiasm for the game. I can’t wait to work with Iona. She is brilliant, she knows the game inside out and we’ve been good friends for years. We want to talk about the big stuff, but also the weird, funny and relatable things that every golfer goes through. If you love golf, whatever your level, this show is for you.”
For The Love Of Golf is produced by Crowd Network, the team behind its personality-led sports shows, including For The Love Of Rugby with Dan Cole and Ben Youngs, For The Love Of Cricket with Stuart Broad and Jos Buttler, and For The Love Of Cycling with Ned Boulting and David Miller.
