The Staysure Legends Tour has announced that Pinheirinho Golf Course in Portugal will host the inaugural Portugal Legends Championship this autumn. 30 October – 1 November, 2026.

Set within the region of Comporta’s breathtaking natural landscape at the centre of the 400-hectare Pinheirinho Estate by VIC Properties, the Pinheirinho course blends bold contemporary design with its unspoilt surroundings, offering a setting unlike anywhere else.

The announcement further strengthens Portugal’s position on the Staysure Legends Tour’s international schedule, with the country continuing to showcase its reputation as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations during the 2026 season.

Designed by renowned architect Jorge Santana da Silva, Pinheirinho’s 18-hole championship course winds through secondary dunes and pine forests, combining undulating fairways, striking bunkering and a 3.5-hectare lake to create a memorable challenge for players of all standards.

Alongside the golf course and its Jacobsen Arquitetura clubhouse, Pinheirinho comprises private plots, turnkey homes, apartments and Six Senses Comporta, the brand’s first resort and branded residences in Portugal, with direct access to 60km of Alentejo coastline. Pinheirinho has quickly established itself as one of Portugal’s most distinctive golfing venues.

The Portugal Legends Championship is set to bring together Major champions, Ryder Cup icons and Tour winners, with the field expected to feature 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell, 2014 European Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley, and members of his victorious Gleneagles team, Jamie Donaldson and Stephen Gallacher.

Mark Aspland, Chief Operating Officer of the Staysure Legends Tour, said: “Portugal continues to be an important destination for the Staysure Legends Tour, and Pinheirinho is an exceptional addition to our international schedule. Every venue we visit needs to offer something distinctive for our players, partners and amateurs, and Pinheirinho certainly delivers that.

“It is a spectacular course in one of Europe’s most beautiful golfing destinations, and we are excited to showcase it to our global audience while creating another outstanding experience both inside and outside the ropes.”

Luís Gamboa, COO of VIC Properties, said: “To welcome the Staysure Legends Tour in our opening season is the kind of moment you hope for and rarely get this early on. The Pinheirinho Golf Course was built to follow the landscape rather than flatten it and having the world’s best over-50s play is the clearest proof yet that we got the golf development right.”

Tickets for the Portugal Legends Championship are free, with spectators able to register their interest via the website.
