Garmin releases ‘Trends in Golf Data’ report

New insights from Garmin golfers around the world reveal key trends — from more participation among younger golfers and insights into how players are improving their game.

Shot-tracking and distance measuring brand Garmin has published its latest Trends in Golf Data Report, which highlights overall trends from Garmin golfers worldwide in 2025.

Insights from the Garmin Golf app show that participation in the sport is up and player data shows improvement in nearly every shot category, while the number of Garmin golfers who participate in other athletic activities has also increased.

Key takeaways from the report include:

  • Six months after registering a Garmin launch monitor, users saw an average score improvement of 4.4 strokes.
  • The number of Garmin golfers under the age of 20 increased by 76%, while golfers between the ages of 20-29 grew by 53%.
  • The median handicap for Garmin golfers was 14 during 2025. Golfers in the United States (12) and Canada (12) had slightly lower median handicaps than their counterparts in Australia (14), France (15), Sweden (15) and the UK (15).
  • In 2025, Garmin golfers saw the biggest improvement off the tee.
  • To improve their overall fitness, Garmin golfers increased other activities in 2025. Golfers recorded 49% more yoga activities and 45% more strength training activities as players become more aware of the benefits of increased flexibility and strength.
