Golf clubs across the English county of Warwickshire have unanimously voted to unite the Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs (WUGC) and the Warwickshire Ladies County Golf Association (WLCGA).
The vote was carried at a Special General Meeting held at West Midlands Golf Club on September 25, which was attended by representatives from 14 Warwickshire golf clubs, with a further 11 clubs submitting proxy votes in favour.
The unification of WUGC and WLCGA is a significant step forward for amateur golf in Warwickshire and has the full support of England Golf.
Under its new Warwickshire Golf brand and the formation of Warwickshire Golf Ltd, the organisation aims to expand participation opportunities and provide a single support platform for all member clubs across the county.
The new board, chaired by Mark Reynolds, is developing strategic objectives for implementation from 1st January 2027, alongside ambitious and exciting plans to grow golf across the county.
Reynolds said: “Unification has required a huge amount of work and communication between WUGC, WLCGA and England Golf over the past two years, and we are delighted that voting clubs across the county gave it their unanimous support at the Special General Meeting. Unification will create one organisation with a single, stronger voice for all Warwickshire golfers. It will improve efficiency, deliver economies of scale and support inclusive growth of the game.”
He added: “The hard work now begins as we implement our progressive plans, prepare for the 2027 launch and bring men’s, ladies’ and junior golf together under one umbrella.”

Board members include Sue Timberlake (President), Mark Reynolds (Chair), Stuart Bloxham, (Player Development Director), Robin Brennan (Finance Director), Sharon Butler (Golf Development Director), Lesley Duff (Compliance Director), Nev Gardner (Teams Director), Anne Parry (Marketing Director), and Maggie Taylor (Competitions Director).
A total of 13 counties or regions, including Warwickshire, now operate as one organisation for men’s and women’s amateur golf. The others are Bedfordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire Devon, Dorset, Hertfordshire, Isle of Man, Kent, Lancashire, Middlesex, Northamptonshire and Wiltshire.
Northamptonshire was the first county in England to unify in 2015. At the national level, the English Golf Union and the English Women’s Golf Association merged to form England Golf in 2012.
