Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort in Italy has taken another major step towards enhancing its sustainable credentials with a significant energy efficiency project developed in partnership with My Energy Q8, the ESCO company of the Q8 Group specialising in decarbonisation and energy transition solutions.
The project marks one of the most important technological upgrades ever carried out at the Tuscan resort and further reinforces its long-standing vision centred on environmental protection, respect for the local territory and responsible innovation.
A total of 888 photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roofs of the hotel, clubhouse and garages. Carefully integrated into the Monte Argentario landscape through low-impact design solutions, the system preserves the architectural harmony of the property while delivering a total capacity of approximately 400 kWh. It now generates more than 545,000 kWh of clean energy annually, covering around 24% of the Resort’s electricity needs.

At the same time, the Resort’s energy plant has been completely transformed with the introduction of high-efficiency heat pumps replacing the previous diesel boilers. The new system now covers 100% of the property’s heating, cooling and hot water requirements using electricity alone.
The renewable energy generated on-site powers guest rooms, the wellness centre, common areas and sports facilities, ensuring high standards of comfort while significantly reducing environmental impact.
Thanks to the integration of solar energy, heat pumps and certified renewable electricity sources, the Resort is reducing its CO₂ emissions by approximately 1,000 tons per year, completely eliminating fossil fuels for heating operations and effectively running on 100% green energy. This environmental benefit is equivalent to the annual absorption capacity of around 45,000 trees.
“This project represents a natural evolution of the sustainability journey we began when the Resort was first established,” said Augusto Orsini, general manager of Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort. “We believe contemporary luxury should be increasingly conscious, respectful of the local environment and capable of creating both environmental and experiential value.”
Sustainability has been part of the Resort’s DNA since its opening in 2008. Since then, more than 400,000 new plants have been introduced across the estate, contributing to the return of numerouswildlife species including the Northern Bald Ibis, squirrels, fallow deer and mallards.
Today, the resort continues to promote sustainable practices across all operations — from the use of seasonal regional products sourced from local farms to its on-site organic garden, which supplies the kitchens with vegetables, herbs, honey, and olive oil produced directly on the estate.
In 2006, Argentario Golf Club became the first golf course in Italy to receive BioAgriCert certification for maintenance carried out exclusively with natural products. The Club also participates in the Italian Golf Federation’s “Committed to Green” programme, dedicated to sustainable golf course management and the optimization of natural resources. In 2024, dedicated bird nesting areas were introduced to help protect the local ecosystem, and in 2025 the Resort — also home to PGA National Italy — hosted the first Italian Open certified under ISO 20121, the international sustainability standard for events.
The resort’s environmental commitment is also reflected in its architecture, seamlessly integrated into the Tuscan landscape, as well as in its sustainable mobility initiatives, including six EV charging stations and low-impact transportation options. Within the estate, guests are encouraged to move around using golf carts, bicycles, e-bikes, or dedicated walking and jogging trails.
Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort is part of Marriott International through its Autograph Collection brand.
