Aphrodite Hills Resort has become the first golf resort in Cyprus to introduce robotic mowing technology, with nine Husqvarna machines being installed this month.
Home to PGA National Cyprus, the resort has invested in two CEORA 546 EPOS units and seven Automower 580L EPOS units for use on its 18-hole championship golf course designed by Cabell B Robinson.
The project forms part of Aphrodite Hills Resort’s commitment to more sustainable course maintenance. The battery-powered mowers will reduce reliance on fuel-powered machinery for routine mowing, producing no direct exhaust emissions during operation. Quiet running will also help reduce disturbance for golfers, resort guests and wildlife.
Both models use Husqvarna’s satellite-based EPOS technology to operate within virtual boundaries. Mowing areas and schedules can be adjusted to suit course requirements, while temporary exclusion zones can protect areas undergoing maintenance or renovation.
Regular, precise cutting supports consistent turf presentation, with automated mowing giving the greenkeeping team more time for specialist maintenance and detailed course preparation. Remote monitoring and control will provide greater flexibility in managing daily workloads.
“Our priority is to provide excellent playing conditions while making practical improvements to how we maintain the course,” said David Blair, course superintendent at Aphrodite Hills Resort “These mowers will help us reduce fuel use and noise from routine mowing, giving our greenkeeping team more time for work that requires their skills and experience. Following the completion of our second phase of course upgrades, this is another important investment in the quality and long-term care of PGA National Cyprus.”
Fotis Raptis, head of Husqvarna Group at Pantelis Papadopoulos, said: “Aphrodite Hills is embracing the future of course maintenance. Husqvarna is the world leader in commercial robotic mowing with over 30 years of experience in autonomous turf care.
“Our high-quality golf course mowers for fairways, semi-roughs and roughs, as well as golf course maintenance equipment such as front mowers and handheld equipment are trusted by more than 1,700 golf courses all over the world. Combining CEORA and Automower technology will allow the team to tailor mowing to different areas of the course, with precise cutting and flexible scheduling.
“Robotic mowing supports the expertise of greenkeepers, taking care of repetitive tasks so they can concentrate on other aspects of course conditioning. We look forward to working with Aphrodite Hills Resort as it introduces this technology to golf in Cyprus.”

The investment follows the opening of the resort’s PGA National Golf Academy, which combines expert PGA coaching with Cyprus’ first TrackMan Range, two indoor coaching studios and dedicated short-game facilities. The state-of-the-art investment includes SYNLawn’s longest continual artificial grass teeline in Europe featuring TeeStrike+ hitting areas and PLATFORM Golf’s TrueBreak putting system and SAM PuttLab technology.
The academy and course improvements form part of a wider investment programme, including a phased upgrade and renovation of all the bunkers, a starter hut, enhancements to tennis and padel facilities at The Racket Club, and continued refurbishment of accommodation, restaurants and leisure facilities.
