St Andrews Links Trust unveils vision for new Golf Hub

Multi-functional community space in the centre to open at the home of Golf this summer under the auspices of St Andrews Links Trust.

New images have been published to show how a new, multifunctional community space in the centre of St Andrews will be used and laid out ahead of its opening in July.

St Andrews Links Trust has revealed CGI visuals of the new Home of Golf Hub as it prepares to open its first physical presence in the centre of the town. The Hub will offer residents and visitors a unique window into the work of the world-famous organisation with exhibitions, visuals, information and photography.

The latest visuals show how the 1,250 sq ft space will be brought to life, transformed from its previous use as a VisitScotland iCentre. The Links Trust has carefully considered and invested in each area of the Hub to ensure it is a welcoming and enjoyable space for the community.

The venue will host a dedicated Love Fife Visitor Information Point, which is partnered with Welcome to Fife, to provide opportunities for those visiting the Hub to ask questions and find out more about the Links Trust and the town.

As part of this, the Links Trust has invested in special training for its team, to ensure they can offer the best guidance and knowledge on the local area. Some of the Links Trust’s team will also be based in the Hub’s collaborative working space on a daily basis.

The versatility of the Hub’s layout means that the Links Trust will be hosting a series of events and exhibitions at the venue in the coming months, each with their own focus and special guests, giving golfers and non-golfers a unique insight into the organisation, the local area and sport.

The images also show dedicated areas for people to sit and learn about the rich history of the Home of Golf, whether by book or by speaking to a member of the Links Trust team, and appreciate the local artwork and photography on display. Pieces on display will include the work of Jon Wood, current Keeper of the Green at the Old Course, and the top three entries from the Trust’s amateur photography competition, Links Lens, which will be professionally printed and framed.

There will also be a retail offering with exclusive products from local suppliers available, and office space for Links Trust staff to base themselves in the town.

Andrew Thomson, Director of St Andrews Experience at St Andrews Links Trust, said: “The Old Course sits at the edge of St Andrews, but our work touches the whole town. The Hub puts us right in the centre of it for the first time – an open door for residents and visitors alike. You don’t need to play a round of golf to walk through it.

“We’ve taken a space that had gone quiet and filled it with the history, the artwork and the people behind the Home of Golf. The exhibitions will change through the year, so there’s always a reason to come back – to mark a milestone, celebrate something local, or simply start a conversation. This is the community’s space as much as ours. If you’ve got an idea worth bringing to life here, come and tell us.”
