The Ancient Links Golf Company has appointed Laura Kumar to lead the development of its central reservations function, strengthening the company’s commercial and visitor operations as it continues to build its collection of historic Scottish golf venues.

Kumar joins Ancient Links with extensive experience in golf reservations, having previously worked within the reservation’s operation at Carnoustie Golf Links before moving to St Andrews Links Trust.

Her appointment will see her develop and manage a dedicated central reservations function supporting Ancient Links’ existing venues, Scotscraig Golfing Club and Forfar Golf Club, as well as future venues joining the collection.

The new function is being built to give golf tour operators, groups and visitors a consistent point of contact, covering tee-time availability, itinerary planning, group requirements, hospitality, caddies, club hire and the wider visitor journey.

Ancient Links has invested significantly in the course, clubhouse, member and visitor experience at Scotscraig and Forfar. The development of Central Reservations is part of the same approach: investing deliberately in the people and systems behind the venues, not simply the physical assets.

For golf tour operators, the intention is straightforward: quicker and more accurate responses, clear communication, confidence around tee times and group requirements, and a consistent standard of service from the first enquiry through to arrival at the venue.

Michael Wells, co-founder of Ancient Links, said: “We have been very clear from the beginning that investment in our venues must be matched by investment in the people and systems behind them.Laura has worked within two golf operations where the expectations of international golfers and golf tour Operators are exceptionally high.

“She understands what good looks like, the importance of detail and, critically, what operators need from a reservations team.As Ancient Links grows, we want to be known not only for the quality and history of the golf courses within the collection, but for being exceptionally easy and reliable to work with. Laura will play an important part in establishing that standard.”

Kumar”s appointment forms part of the wider development of Ancient Links’ central team, with shared capability being established across reservations, sales, marketing, finance, HR and other operational functions.

While those functions increasingly support venues centrally, the Ancient Links model is deliberately designed to preserve the individual identity, membership, traditions and character of each members club.

The 2027 visitor diaries at Scotscraig and Forfar are now open, with Ancient Links’ central reservations team working directly with GTOs on availability, itinerary planning, group requirements and FAM visits.
