GolfPod, the compact technology-led driving range known as ‘The Anywhere Driving Range’, has opened its third UK site at Rickmansworth Golf Course on Moor Lane, in partnership with Everyone Active, which manages the course on behalf of Three Rivers District Council.
The opening follows GolfPod’s launches at Cranham Golf Course in Upminster and Basildon Sporting Village, and is the second GolfPod delivered in partnership with Everyone Active.
The site welcomed its first public golfers on the weekend of Saturday 24 October, and GolfPod confirms that construction of its fourth site will begin before the end of the year.
What GolfPod is
GolfPod was built around a simple idea: golf should be easier to get into. A traditional driving range needs several acres of land. GolfPod delivers a full range experience on a footprint of around 40 metres square, turning an under-used corner of a golf course or leisure site into a modern practice and social venue.
At Rickmansworth, the facility sits opposite the clubhouse on part of the former par 3 and footgolf area. It offers:
- Ten covered, floodlit bays looking out over a synthetic outfield, so golfers can play in any weather and into the evening
- Toptracer technology in every bay, the same ball-tracking system used on professional tour broadcasts, giving instant data on distance, ball speed, launch angle and accuracy
- Games and virtual golf, including target challenges and world-famous courses, so families, juniors and complete beginners can have fun alongside regular golfers working on their game
- Premium Callaway golf balls and quality hitting mats, with tracking cameras configured for accurate, reliable shot data
- Automated ball dispensing and collection, which keeps the range running smoothly with minimal staffing
- Contactless pay and play: no booking or app required. Golfers simply turn up, tap to buy a bucket of balls and step into a bay

A strong start
Despite a stormy final build week and a wet opening weekend, the site has made a strong start. Everyone Active’s opening-day video reached more than 17,000 views within days, and visitor feedback across the first weekend was very positive.
Mike Stone, Managing Director of GolfPod, said: “We’re delighted to open GolfPod Rickmansworth with Everyone Active, our second site together. Our goal has always been to get more people playing golf, and that means facilities that are accessible, welcoming and easy to use, whether you’re working on your game, picking up a club for the first time or bringing the family for some fun.
“Technology is central to that. Golfers need data they can trust, which is why we’ve invested heavily in Toptracer and in the quality of every part of the experience, from the balls to the mats.
“What we’ve seen at Cranham and Basildon shows there is real appetite for a different kind of golf experience, and Rickmansworth has made a fantastic start despite the weather. With our fourth site starting construction before the end of the year, GolfPod is building momentum as we bring the game closer to more communities.”
GolfPod will begin construction of its fourth site before the end of 2026, with opening planned for early 2027. The company’s standardised build programme takes a site from start on site to opening in around seven weeks.
Further UK openings are planned through 2027, working with leisure operators, local authorities and golf venues.
