Shot Scope has added a new feature to its mobile app that provides shot-tracking golfers with a quick and convenient framework to systematically lower their scores.
As the company’s shot database surpasses 460 million recorded shots, it has distilled its vast database of over 100 tour level statistics, including ‘Strokes Gained’, into six key performance metrics that directly correlate to score improvement and handicap reduction.
The feature, the ‘Shot Scope 6’, is now live within the Shot Scope mobile app and web dashboard for both existing and new users, transforms what can often be a daunting data analysis process into clear, actionable insights at a glance.
The Shot Scope 6 consists of:
Troublesome Tee Shots: Identifying misses that lead to penalty strokes or recovery shots.
Driving Distance: Tracking Performance-Average (P-Avg) to understand club distances off the tee.
Greens in Regulation: One of the strongest indicators of lower scoring potential.
Multiple Chip Shots: Eliminating wasted strokes from inside 50 yards.
Number of Three Putts: Reducing the number of ‘cheap’ shots lost on the greens.
Missed Putts Inside 5ft: Developing short range putting proficiency can transform bogeys into pars and relieve pressure on other areas of the game.
Through the six metrics mentioned, the Shot Scope 6 provides a benchmark for scoring barriers like breaking 80 or 90. This allows golfers to quickly and easily pinpoint areas for improvement that prevented them from hitting their target in that round.

“Breaking down the game into these six key statistics reveals a simple truth: lower scores don’t come from one magic fix, they come from making smarter, incremental decisions on every shot,” said Shot Scope CEO David Hunter. “This is the strength of the Shot Scope 6. Meaningful statistics that reveal exactly where scoring potential is hiding. Improve each stat incrementally, and the effect builds over time. Less wasted shots, more controlled rounds, and hopefully a consistent downward shift in handicap.”
The Shot Scope 6 is showcased throughout the mobile app, dashboard, and website, with brand ambassador and Sky Sports Commentator Wayne Riley explaining each of the six and why they matter.
For the wider golfing community, the Shot Scope 6 has also been released as a free to download digital eBook here.
