A 2.5 metre-wide golf ball has been dramatically positioned inside Amsterdam Centraal, one of Europe’s busiest transport hubs, as part of a marketing activation to mark the countdown to the 2026 Solheim Cup which takes place at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands in September.
For one day only, from 7.30am until 7pm outside the store HEMA, fans can take part in a series of interactive experiences, including a long putt challenge and a prize wheel offering the chance to win tickets to both the Solheim Cup and the PING Junior Solheim Cup, as well as exclusive merchandise, special ticket discounts, and prizes from partners PING, adidas and TUMI.
Amsterdam Centraal Station was chosen to highlight how accessible the event is for travelling fans, with the course easily reachable from the capital. The Netherlands is set for a landmark summer of golf, hosting the KLM Open this week, and the Dutch Ladies Open 19-21 June before culminating in the Solheim Cup in September.
Fans can travel directly from Amsterdam Centraal to ’s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) in under 50 minutes, from where there will be regular complimentary shuttle busses to the venue. Alternatively, fans can adopt the Dutch approach and cycle the scenic 9km – with bikes ready and waiting at the station, also complimentary when booking entry tickets.

Anna Nordqvist, European Solheim Cup captain commented, “I can’t believe it’s only 100 days to go until the 2026 Solheim Cup. Seeing something like this in the heart of Amsterdam really brings home how close we are now and what an incredible occasion it is going to be. This stunt is a brilliant way to build momentum and excitement, and it perfectly captures the scale and energy behind one of the biggest sporting events in women’s golf. The countdown is on and I know the whole team is getting more excited by the day.”
Nelly Korda is also the first player to clinch a spot on the U.S Solheim Cup team, securing qualification through the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings with 2,603 points. The 27-year-old will make her fifth Solheim Cup appearance at Bernardus this September after capturing three LPGA Tour titles so far in 2026, including her third major at the Chevron Championship, following a winless 2025 season. She holds a Solheim Cup record of 10 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw.
“It’s amazing.” said Korda after sealing her place three months ahead of the event. “Getting to represent my country is always such a huge honor. I’m just really excited to kind of tee it up in Amsterdam playing for Angela, playing for our country. I’ve always made amazing memories playing in the Solheim Cup, and I can’t wait for more.”
