Mar Hall wins Golf Hotel of the Year at Scottish Hotel Awards

Glasgow resort picks up prestigious hospitality award.

Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort has been named ‘Golf Hotel of the Year’ at the 2026 Scottish Hotel Awards (Prestige), further cementing The Glasgow-based venue’s position as one of Scotland’s leading luxury golf and leisure destinations.

The Scottish Hotel Awards were created to showcase and reward outstanding service within the hotel industry in Scotland. Voted for by the public, once voting closes, the hotels with the most nominations are judged by a panel of hospitality industry experts.

Mar Hall was included in a final shortlist of seven venues in the ‘Golf Hotel of the Year’ category alongside Trump Turnberry, Carnoustie Golf Hotel, Rusacks St Andrews, the Marine Troon (Ayr), Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort and the Golf View Hotel & Spa (Nairn).

Following an extensive £20 million refurbishment in 2025, and with recently completed interior renovations of the clubhouse, the accolade recognises the JA Resorts & Hotels-owned venue’s exceptional guest experience across golf, hospitality, dining and wellness, welcoming both domestic and international travellers seeking a premium Scottish golf escape.

Mar Hall’s 18-hole championship course, which was designed by Dave Thomas and first opened in 2010, offers uninterrupted views of the River Clyde and Old Kilpatrick Hills, watched over by the spectacular Erskine Bridge. The par-70 layout winds through natural woodlands and rolling, generously proportioned fairways, offering gently contoured USGA-specification greens and strategically placed bunkers.

Chris McQueen, Director of Golf at Mar Hall, said: “We are incredibly proud to win Golf Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards (Prestige), a reflection of the passion, dedication and commitment of our entire team. The past year has marked an exciting new chapter for JA Mar Hall following significant investment and refurbishment, and this accolade reinforces our position as one of Scotland’s leading luxury golf destinations. We’re excited to continue welcoming both leisure golfers and luxury travellers from across the UK and internationally to experience everything JA Mar Hall has to offer.”

To celebrate the award, JA Mar Hall has launched a new Championship Stay & Play offer, including an overnight stay and a round of golf for two, dinner, and a dram of whisky.
